YES Did you like Super Star Soldier? Well, then, you're going to love Soldier Blade, which is basically the ultimate evolution of the series. (No, Star Soldier 64 doesn't count.) The basic gameplay is the same: it's a vertically-scrolling shooter with tons of ships flying at you but, mercifully, no bullet-hell patterns to memorize. There are three kinds of weapons to collect, and grabbing multiples of the same power-up enhances your current weapon selection. New to this chapter is a companion ship, similar to Gradius' Options, and huge, colorful graphics drawn in the '80s/'90s robot-anime style. What hasn't changed is the fast-paced action and high difficulty level -- Soldier Blade is all too happy to kick your ass, and you'll enjoy every minute.
